Research Focus
My research investigates the mechanisms that regulate the removal and sorting of membrane-associated proteins for degradation, a process that is vital for plant development and also for responses to environmental changes. A key protein family involved in this process is the TOLs, which function in the early stages of trafficking endocytosed, ubiquitinated membrane proteins to the vacuole. TOLs act as multivalent ubiquitin receptors in plants, directing the delivery of ubiquitinated cargo through the conserved Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport (ESCRT) pathway.
